Who would be the audience for your media production?

This is Ryan Connor he is sixteen, lives in the suburbs of London and of white British origin. He wears tracksuits bottoms or jeans. He also wears trainers and coloured t-shirts. Ryan goes Croydon College where he is studying PE, Media and Sociology.

In his spear time he likes playing a variety of sports, such as football, ruby and basketball. On the weekends he likes going out with his friends. When he does this Ryan and his friends like to go shopping, get something to eat or go cinemas.

The type of shops Ryan likes purchasing clothing from are, River Island, JD Sports, Blue Inc, Sports World, Four Feet and JJB. He also like to eat in restaurants such as Nandoes, TGI Fridays, KFC, Chinese restaurants and McDonald's.

The films he has enjoyed in the past have mainly either been action films, scary films or teenager representation films. For example, Freddie vs Jason, KidultHood, AdultHood, Scream, Wanted, Resident Evil, Taken, Sixteen, Paranormal Activity, Training Day, Bad Boys and The Omen. On the odd occasion he does like watching comedies such as Hangover, Liar Liar and What Happens in Vegas.

He also likes to watch television in his spare time after college. The shows he enjoys are Skins, Inbertweeners, Flash Forward, 24 and Simpsons.

Ryan likes up to date modern music, the type of music in the charts. For example Hip Hop, rap, RnB and House. Although Ryan listens to music a lot he rarely listens to the radio. However on the odd occasion that the does he like listening to station such as Capital FM, KISS 100, Radio 1 and Choice FM.

This is a collage i have created of all Ryan's likes.

We think that our film will appeal to Ryan and other similar boys to him because he is a typical adrenalin driven, slightly imerture, teenaged boy. Therefore as our film will create adrenalin and excitement, due to it being a horror, Ryan and boys like him will want to watch our film.

Rough Cut

This is a rough cut of our opening sequence, we have a lot more to edit in it to make it look better, flow better and create the impact we want on the audiences. One of the things we are planning to do is to shorten the opening shots of Lilly running through the woods. This is because we feel as it is, at the moment it does not have a very fast pace and by doing this to the show we can get the pace we intended. We also need to insert some dijetic sound over this scene to make it seem more sinister, because at the moment you can hear birds singing which is giving the scene an impress that is a nice happy scene. My group and i have came to the conclusion that the dijetic sound the is scene should be a heart beating which gets faster and a recording of Elly breathing heavily.

During this first scene we are also planning to cut the shots up into smaller shots, and randomly move the order of them. This is because we feel it will look more professional because it will constantly be switching to different view/perspectives of Lilly running; and also increase the pace of the scene. We have not entirely stuck to our story board in this scene because we have included some more shots such as a long shot and a high angle shot.

For the bedroom scene we also need to add music to it when Lilly switches on the radio. We have decided to use the music we made from the program Garage Band, that atchally play toward the end of the scene. We need to extend the music and place it so it comes on exactly when Lilly presses the radio button. Viering from our story board again we have not done the point of view shot of Lilly waking up and rubbing here eyes in this scene. This because we were finding it difficult to make it look realistic.

In our final scene of Lilly at her lockers we also need to shorten these scenes. This is because as it is the scenes do to flow as well as they could, however if we shorten them we feel it will solve this problem.

Music and Editing Process

As the deadline for our media film draws nearer it is becoming urgent for my group and I to come up with our non-copyrighted music for our film. We have made a instrumental using the program Garage Band for Lilly's bedroom scene, but we were not sure if it was the right sound for the scene. Therefore I made another instrumental in the hope to find a sound that would fit the scene better.

However we also felt this did not fit the scene asweel. In the end we decided to use the original instrumental we made fist because we felt we could not make another as good as this one and because we need to music so our edditing process could progress.

We also were finding it difficult to get music for our first scene the flash forward. However we decided to use the program Garage Band to get a drum sound and have the sound effect of a heart beating.

Below is the 'BECK Film Production' logo that Kirsty made. We have included this in our film and have tried to make it less like a picture and more animated by have a dark fog go over it in our film.

The is the title of our film that Kirsty also made. We have also tried to meke this look less like a picture in our film and more like a animated sequence by have music over it and have it darken and brighten.

5th March - Filming Day 5

During this filming session we went to film our the opening scene that is a flash forward. This is when our character Lilly is running though the wood trying to get away from the killer.

previously we had discussed where and how we were going the film this scene in class. This made it very easy and quick when it came to actually shooting it because we all had the same clear idea of what every shot should look like.

However when we were filming our final shot of Lilly turning at the camera and screaming we came up against a very amusing problem. This was because were we were filming was directly next to a childrens park and when ever Elly (Lilly) screamed the children screamed back forcing us to have to re-shoot it.

We also found the hand-held shot of Lilly's back while she running through the wood difficult to shoot. This is because the ground was very hard to run on and our group member Bareen, who we assign to film the shot, found it hard to keep the camera straight and in lime. However we figure out a way she could hot the camera while she was running to get the shot we intended.

Below is a picture of Elly holding the camera. This is when we tried to do the point of view shot of Lilly running in the woods. However we decided not to use it because it do not look a good and realistic as we wanted.

1st March - Filming Day 4

My group and I went back to Elly's house to re-shoot the second and third scenes. We had to re-shoot them because we acidently filmed over these scenes with extra footage we did not want to include in our opening sequence, that was a scene of Lilly going into her kitchen and burning toast.

We re-shooted the bedroom scene of Lilly waking up and going to ther bathroon, the match on action scene of lilly running dow the stairs and, the long shot of her walking down the road. Doing this for the scond time we found it much easier and also found it quicker. We did all our filming for this within a hour where as before this same process took us about three hours.

However my group and I did experience some difficulties when trying to film the shot of Lilly walking down the road. This was due to the wind and the uneven pavements. The wind kept blowing the camera making it wobble during our filming and the uneven pavements made it hare for us to keep the camera straight while we were panning. We tried to do the best we could and in the end we had two shots to choose from that we were satisfied with.

During the filming session we also decided to disgrade the point of view shot of Lilly waking up because we felt the camera movements did not look naturalistic. Overall i personally think this was a good filming session and that we worked well as a team to achieve our goal.
