26th February - Filming Day 3

My group and I had to go back to the locker room location where we shot in our first filming session. This was because when we previously did this we ran out of time and was not able to shoot all the shots we needed.

This was very easy and quick because we only needed to film two shots. One of these were of Lilly slamming her locker door shut, and another of Valerie and Sophia turning around to look at Lilly.

Overall this filming session was very simple and not very challenging. However by going back an shooting the same scene it enable us to realise the best way to order our shots for this scene so it can be effective as possible.

16th February - Filming Day 2

The was our second filming session. During this filming session we planned to film all the scene that take place in Lilly's house, these were scenes two, three and four. My group and I were also planning to film the fashforward scene of Lilly running through the wood. However on this day it was rain heavly which prevented us from filming this section.

Above are two images of my group and I filming an extra scene that we were considering to put into the sequence. This was of Lilly making toast in the kitchen and burning it. We wanted to use this extra scene because it would show the audience that she having a bad day. However in the end we dicided not to because as this scene was a last minute idea it was taking too long to film because we had not planned it.

Below are two images of me and Elly trying to film Lilly point of view shot as she wakes up. We tried using various methods to do this shot. One of the ways we tried was by having Elly holding the camera, but we realised it was not looking as we planned. I then tried to film the same shot. However it again did not look as good as we wished. Therefore we decided to scrap the whole shot a try other was of doing this.

11th February - Filiming Day 1

In this filming session we intened on filming our sixth scene of Lilly, when she comes into the school to her locker and when we first introduce the other main actors in our film.

We found filming this scene very hard and frustrating. this is because we were filming in a corridor at school, that meant we had people constantly walking past interrupting our filming. We also found film difficult in the session because there was another media group filming in the corridor whilst we were, so we had to take turns to film our shots which made the filming process longer than we intended.

It was also difficult to get the books to fall out of Lilly's locker. This is because we felt it always looked very fake or dramatic. However continuously trying we managed to get a shot that we were satisfied with.

We did not finish all the shots we wanted to in the session due tho our difficulties. However I feel my group and i worked very well togther in this filming session to over come our obstacles.

Weather for Filming

Before we could start filming we needed to know what the weather conditions were going to be. This is because some of our shots would be filmed outside. We wanted the weather in our opening sequence to be cloudy with sunny intervals; because we thought it would make our opening sequence seem more daunting however still have an element of happiness. Luckily for use the weather conditions sere exactly what we wanted throughout our filming process. This enable us to create the atmosphere we intended.

Shooting Schedule

This is our shooting schedule, we are going to try and make sure we stick to the schedule as best as possible. This is because if we do not our filming may take longer than we and we might not get it finished or have to rush it.

Location Shots

Above is a picture of our group members Elly's house. This is where we are going to film scenes two and three of Lilly waking up and getting ready for school. We decided on this location because we wanted Elly (who plays Lilly) to feel comfortable, because otherwise she would have to be acting in someone else bedroom and may feel uncomfortable doing this. We also chose the location because its not too far from our school and therefore meaning we could easily go back there if we need to.

The two images above are of two locker corridors in our school, that we were considering using for our last scene. The first image is the extension building locker corridor and the second one is the six form common room locker area. We decided to use the extension building locker corridor (the second image) because we thought it looks more like a school than the common room locker area, and also because it has more space therefore making it easier to film.

We initially planned to film in the location of image one, that was right next to our school. However from visiting it a second time we realised it would be very difficult to film in because it was very tight and uneven. Therefore we set out to find another wood location that we could film our flash forward scene in. From asking other school companions we found out that there was also a wood area fifteen minutes walk away from our school. We visited it and came to the conclusion that this was perfect for filming our flash forward scene (image two).

Costume Choice

We have decided that Lily's costume was to be casual, yet smart to show that she is going to school. We chose simple colours for her to wear - black and white - because we think that the black of her coat and skirt reflect the gloom and danger ahead in the film, while her white shirt can reflect on Lily's innocence - even her pyjamas follow this scheme. Furthermore, we think that her outfits are very realistic and normal, so perhaps the audience can imagine the story to be close to reality.

Casting Shots

Elly, who is a fellow member of our group, will be playingthe main character, Lily. We thought that she would be great for this role as she can easily act serious and listens to every idea our group has and plays the role to the best of her ability. Elly is always free during lessons and after school when we need to film so it is easy to film on the days we planned to. Plus she can scream without bursting into laughter!

Another member of our group, Bareen, will be playing the role of Sophia, who is one of the three other main characters who are introduced nearer the end of the opening squence but do not make a proper appearance until later in the film. We decided that the main focus should be on Lily because she would appear throughout the whole film and the other main characters die later in the film. We chose Bareen to play the part because she can act natural and can laugh easily without making it sound fake. Furthermore, she was, like Elly, free to film during lessons so we had plenty of opportunity to film.

Our friend, Marina, is playing Valerie who stands along with Sophia (Bareen) by her locker and laughs at Lily when she drops her books. We chose Marina to play the part because she has an amazing ability to laugh completely naturally at any little thing but can also wait until the appropriate moment. She is also has a very bubbly and enthusiastic personality which suits the character perfectly and so it was easy for her to play the part.

Bryony, another of our friends, is playing Kate, who simply rolls her eyes at Lily for dropping her books. Bryony was free when we needed to film this scene and is great at keeping a straight face and natural look no matter what is going on which is why we pleaded with her (she gave in reletively quickly - that's how good we are) to act in out opening sequence.

We are all very happy with our choices for the cast because all four cast members are of different ethnic groups, therefore giving a wider range of races and therefore can interest a wider audience and all of them were able to play their roles flawlessly with few mishaps.

Storyboard

Below is the first draft of the storyboard for the opening sequence of our film.

This is the storyboard of our opening sequence. This will save us time when it comes to shooting our opening scene because it will enable us to follow the different shots where as making up how we are going to shoot each scene while we are filming.
